According to NAC 632.252, a nursing student who works as an apprentice “works under the supervision of a registered nurse who is at the site where care is provided”.  The NSBN-Apprentice-Nurse-Skills-List-updated-02012023 lists the nursing activities an apprentice may perform within a facility, and provides guidance on what they may perform, assist in performing, or may perform with immediate supervision.

In summary: Apprentice nurses need supervision by an RN. (Tasks like allowing a nurse apprentice to transport patients alone would not be within the apprentice’s scope.)

Further questions on supervision or tasks shall be directed to the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
